Who is responsible for your personal information
Creation Africa Foundry is based in Maboneng, Johannesburg and curates handmade textiles, ceramics and artisan goods for customers in South Africa and abroad. Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd acts as the operator of this service and is responsible for the day to day handling of personal information collected through our contact page, order forms and related communications.
We only collect information that is needed to respond to requests, manage orders, arrange delivery and support after sales queries. Where a maker, courier or logistics partner needs limited details to complete a service, we share only what is required for that purpose.
What information we collect when you enquire or order
We may collect the following information from you when you send an enquiry or place an order:
- Your name and contact details
- Delivery and collection addresses
- Order notes, product preferences and gift instructions
- Company details for trade, hospitality or wholesale requests
- Payment confirmation or transaction references where relevant
- Any correspondence you send to us through our contact page
In some cases, we may also keep records of your preferred shipping destination, for example Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha or international courier delivery, so that future handling is more efficient.
Why we use your information
We use your personal information only where we have a lawful reason to do so. The main purposes are to answer your enquiry, fulfil your order, prepare export documents, coordinate courier collection and provide customer support. We may also use your information to keep records for accounting, inventory and compliance purposes.
We do not use your information for purposes that are unrelated to the service you requested. If we wish to send you marketing messages, we will only do so where permitted by law and where you have not objected.
- Responding to enquiries and quotes
- Processing retail, wholesale and export orders
- Arranging gift packing, provenance cards and seasonal editing
- Coordinating delivery, collection and courier services
- Meeting legal, tax and record keeping obligations
Sharing information with makers and delivery partners
Because our service depends on artisan sourcing, export packing and courier coordination, we may need to share limited personal information with trusted third parties. These may include makers, packaging teams, freight handlers and local or international courier providers. We also share information where the law requires it or where it is necessary to protect our rights and the rights of our customers.
All third parties are expected to handle your information responsibly and only for the purpose for which it was disclosed. Where practical, we ask them to apply suitable safeguards for storage, transport and disposal.
- Courier and logistics partners for delivery
- Manufacturing or artisan partners for order fulfilment
- Professional advisers, auditors or tax authorities where required
- Payment service providers handling transaction processing
How we store and protect your information
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure. Records are kept only for as long as needed for the purpose collected, or for the period required by law. This includes order histories, export records and correspondence linked to a completed transaction.
While we use care in handling records, no method of transmission over the internet is fully secure. If you send us information through online forms, message or other digital channels, you do so with the understanding that some risk always remains.
Your rights under POPIA
You have rights in relation to your personal information. Subject to the law, you may ask us to confirm whether we hold your details, request access to the information, ask for correction of inaccurate information or object to certain uses of your information.
If you no longer wish to receive communications from us, you may request that we stop using your details for direct marketing where applicable. You may also ask us to update or delete certain information, although we may need to keep some records for legal or contractual reasons.
- Request access to your information
- Ask for correction or deletion where lawful
- Object to processing in certain cases
- Withdraw consent where processing depends on consent
Contacting us about privacy
If you have a privacy query, please use the enquiry form on our contact page and clearly mark your message as a privacy request. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, especially where it involves access to records or changes to account details.
We may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal or operational changes. Any updated version will apply from the date it is published on our site.
