1. Using the site and accepting these terms
Creation Africa Foundry provides a curated marketplace for handmade textiles, ceramics and artisan goods sourced from makers across Africa. The site may be used to browse collections, submit enquiries, request curation support and place orders where available. You must use the site lawfully and in a manner that does not interfere with its operation or with the rights of other users, makers or the operator.
We may update these terms when needed to reflect changes in our services, shipping methods, supplier arrangements or legal requirements. The version published on the site at the time of your use will apply. If you continue using the site after changes are posted, you accept the updated terms.
2. Orders, quotations and custom requests
Product availability, pricing and delivery timelines may change without prior notice, especially where items are handmade, limited in quantity or subject to export handling. An order or enquiry submitted through the site does not create a binding contract until we confirm acceptance in writing or through the relevant checkout or order process.
- Custom curation, gift packing, hospitality styling and bulk order planning are subject to product availability and lead times.
- Quotes may exclude courier fees, export packing, duties, taxes or special handling unless stated otherwise.
- We may decline any order where payment, stock confirmation, origin documentation or shipping clearance cannot be completed.
For bespoke or volume requests, final specifications must be confirmed before production, packing or dispatch begins. Small variations in colour, texture, size and finish are normal in handmade goods and form part of their character.
3. Pricing, payment and taxes
All prices are shown in Rand unless stated otherwise. Where a price is displayed incorrectly due to a system or input error, we may correct it before accepting the order. Payment must be made using the methods made available at checkout or as otherwise agreed for wholesale and export transactions.
- South African orders may be subject to VAT where applicable.
- International orders may attract customs duties, import taxes or clearance charges in the destination country.
- Any bank charges, currency conversion fees or intermediary transfer costs are for the customer’s account unless agreed in writing.
We reserve the right to withhold dispatch until cleared payment is received. If an order is cancelled after work has started on custom packing or sourcing, reasonable costs already incurred may still be payable.
4. Shipping, collection and export handling
We coordinate courier delivery within South Africa and international shipping where available. Delivery times are estimates only and may be affected by weather, load-shedding, route changes, customs inspection or courier capacity. We do our best to protect fragile goods with suitable packing, but the risk of delay can increase for ceramics, glass and other breakable items.
- Collection arrangements must be confirmed in advance for any pickup from our Johannesburg base or other agreed location.
- Export orders may require additional documents, packing specifications or proof of origin.
- Where a parcel is refused, unclaimed or held due to incorrect delivery details, additional fees may apply.
It is your responsibility to provide accurate contact details and a complete delivery address, including suburb, postal code and any access instructions. We are not responsible for losses caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by you.
5. Maker content, product rights and site materials
Images, text, provenance cards, product descriptions and other content on the site may be used only for personal, non-commercial viewing unless we give prior written consent. The intellectual property in the site layout, editorial material and curated presentation belongs to the operator or its licensors, while the underlying craft rights remain with the relevant makers or rights holders.
You may not copy, reproduce, scrape, republish or commercially exploit any part of the site without permission. If you submit photographs, testimonials, specifications or other material to us, you grant us the right to use that material for order processing, customer support and lawful marketing connected to our services.
6. Liability, governing law and contact
We take reasonable care in selecting makers, describing goods and arranging dispatch, but we do not guarantee that every item will be free from minor natural variations or that the site will be uninterrupted at all times. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect loss, lost profit, business interruption or damage arising from use of the site or from delays outside our control.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute should first be raised through the enquiry form on our contact page so that we can try to resolve it promptly and fairly. The operator of this website is Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd on behalf of Creation Africa Foundry.
