Gift Packing

We assemble and pack artisan gift sets for staff, clients, conferences and festive campaigns from our Maboneng base in Johannesburg. Each set is packed for presentation, safe transport and smooth handover whether it stays local or goes by courier across South Africa and abroad.

Gift Packing

What our gift packing service covers

Our gift packing service brings together handmade textiles, ceramics and artisan goods into polished gift sets that feel considered, not rushed. We work from your brief, budget and recipient profile, then select items that suit the occasion, whether you need 20 conference packs, 100 staff gifts or a mixed client campaign with different tiers.

Every set is assembled with attention to fit, weight and presentation. That means breakable pieces are wrapped properly, soft goods are folded cleanly and any added printed material sits neatly inside the pack. We also account for Johannesburg heat, coastal humidity in Durban and Cape Town, and the jolting that comes with courier networks, so the contents arrive in good condition.

  • Curated item pairing by theme, price point and audience
  • Protective wrapping for ceramics, glass and other fragile pieces
  • Gift notes, provenance cards and simple unboxing order
  • Bulk packing for conferences, staff appreciation and seasonal gifting

How the packing process works

We start with an enquiry through the contact page and a clear outline of your quantities, destination, deadline and any brand requirements. From there, our team checks stock, confirms availability with makers where needed, and maps out the packing method. For larger orders, we can split the run into batches so you can approve the look before the full order is completed.

Once the brief is signed off, we prepare each set in our Maboneng workspace. Ziyanda handles operations flow, Zinhle curates the mix, and Lindelwa coordinates courier timing for local or export movement. If the order needs to be delivered to Sandton, Pretoria, Midrand, Soweto or a further destination, we plan for the route and the receiving point so nothing sits around longer than necessary.

  • Brief intake and quantity check
  • Item selection and price band confirmation
  • Packing trial for layout, fit and protection
  • Final assembly, labelling and dispatch planning

Pack formats for different campaigns

Not every gift needs the same finish. A welcome pack for a conference delegate is packed differently from a premium client hamper or a festive thank-you set for a team of 12. We offer clean, practical formats that suit retail or corporate use, with enough structure to look good without wasting material or space.

Typical pack components include tissue, kraft inner wraps, protective fillers, reusable pouches, ribbon ties, provenance cards and an outer carton sized to reduce movement. For ceramic items we use double wrap protection and separation inserts. For textile-only packs, we can fold flat to keep the parcel compact and cost-effective, which helps when you are sending to Cape Town or Gqeberha by courier and want to keep volumetric charges under control.

  • Flat textile packs for lower courier cost
  • Mixed-material packs with buffer inserts
  • Presentation boxes for premium clients
  • Bulk dispatch cartons for events and rollouts

Turnaround times and order planning

Turnaround depends on the size of the order, the amount of sourcing required and whether the pack includes fragile goods or custom inserts. Small runs can often move quickly once stock is on hand, while larger campaigns need more lead time for picking, wrapping and courier booking. We will always give you a realistic date rather than overpromise and then scramble at the end.

For best results, send your brief early especially before year-end gifting, Heritage Month, conference season and staff bonus time. Lead times also help us plan around load-shedding windows, maker production schedules and courier collection cut-offs. If your campaign has a hard date, tell us upfront and we will work back from it with a packing schedule that makes sense.

  • Small packs: allow 3 to 5 working days
  • Medium orders: allow 5 to 10 working days
  • Large campaign runs: allow 10 to 15 working days or more
  • Rush orders considered subject to stock and packing line capacity

Pricing approach and budget control

Our pricing is shaped by the items selected, the packing material, the labour needed and whether the order needs extra handling for export or mixed destination delivery. We quote transparently so you can see where the money goes, especially when you are balancing gift quality against a fixed campaign budget. There is no point choosing a beautiful set if the courier or packing method pushes the final cost beyond what makes sense.

We can work from a target Rand value per pack or from a total campaign budget. For example, you may want three gift levels for one company event, or different sets for executives, partners and staff. Where possible, we suggest combinations that keep the look consistent while managing cost. This is useful for retail wholesale, hospitality gifting and bulk order planning across branches in Johannesburg and beyond.

Pricing can also be adjusted by maintenance needs. If you plan to repeat a monthly client send or quarterly staff pack, we can keep the structure of the pack steady and update only the contents, which saves time on future runs.

Care, storage and maintenance between sends

Gift packs are meant to travel well and stay presentable until they are opened. If you are holding stock for a staged rollout, keep the cartons in a dry room away from direct sun and damp floors. In humid coastal conditions, especially in Durban and Gqeberha, avoid sealed storage against a wall that sweats or shows condensation after cold nights.

For repeat campaigns, we recommend checking stored packs every 6 to 8 weeks. Look for crushed corners, moisture, loose ribbon, faded printed inserts or any scent transfer from storage areas. If packs include ceramics or natural fibres, keep them off the floor on pallets or shelving. We can also help you refresh older stock with new provenance cards, updated seasonal notes or a changed outer wrap before dispatch.

  • Store in a cool, dry space with airflow
  • Inspect every 6 to 8 weeks for moisture or damage
  • Keep away from direct sun and chemical storage
  • Refresh inserts before repeat sending or reallocation

When gift packing works best

This service suits businesses that want a present with local character and clean execution. It works for year-end gifting, conference packs, welcome hampers, hospitality thank-yous, partner gifts and seasonal campaigns where the same standard needs to land across many recipients. Because we source from makers across the continent, each pack can carry a clear story without becoming overdone.

If you need gift packing for 10 sets or 1 000, we can map the numbers, confirm the contents and arrange courier movement from our Maboneng base to offices, venues or receiving depots across South Africa and abroad. The result is practical, presentable and ready to hand over with less admin on your side.
